This time of the year, kids are heading back to school. Now is a great time to make sure that your vehicle is properly maintained and inspected. If you are not sure what to have inspected, make sure to contact us. This way the certain parts and tasks can be done on a regular basis. By following the schedule, you can also help ensure that they are all working properly and improve the longevity of the vehicle.
One of the first things to check is each tire of the vehicle. You will want to check the tread to ensure it is wearing evenly. If tread is worn down in some spots but not others, then you will want to bring the vehicle in for an inspection. You can also inspect the tread by placing a penny upside down in the groove of the tread. If you see the top of Lincoln’s head, then you know the tread has worn down. When there is uneven tread wear, having an alignment done can help prolong the life of the tires. Also remember to check the air pressure in each tire. If the air gets low, often, make sure to bring it in. There could be a leak in the tire or valve stem.
You should also remember to have the oil changed on a regular basis. When oil is changed on a regular basis, the engine will be properly lubricated. This helps the moving parts and components work without strain against each other. The oil should be changed by either how long it has been, or how many miles you drive. So depending on how often you drive or what roads you drive on, the schedule may be different. During an oil change, we can also check and change the oil filter for you as well.
