As you jump start the battery for your vehicle, there are several things that you will need to remember. The first is that to help keep your vehicle in the best condition possible, you will want to have it properly inspected and maintained. Doing so will help us determine if any part is starting to have an issue or is failing. If you are not sure when regular maintenance should be done, contact us. That way we can set up a schedule for you.
To jump start the battery for your vehicle, there are a few steps that you will need to follow and do in the correct order. If you do not, you run the risk of damage to the battery or vehicle. The first thing is to attach one of the red clamps to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Then take the other end of the cable with a red clamp, and connect it to the positive terminal of the working battery. Then you will want to take one of the black clips and attach it to the negative terminal on the dead battery. It is important to remember the last step here…take the other end of the black clip and attach it to an unpainted metal surface. Remember to not place it near the battery.
Once the battery is connected, then try starting the car. When it works, leave it running for several minutes. This will help recharge the battery so it can stay working longer, and more efficiently. You will want to disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse order you put them on in. Doing so will reduce the chance of damage happening. If you are not sure how to jump start the vehicle, make sure to look in the owner’s manual or contact us.
